Serial accident leads to traffic jam on Hosur Rd

Last Updated 26 April 2017, 19:10 IST

A serial accident, involving four vehicles, caused a huge traffic jam on busy Hosur Road at Kudlu Gate on Wednesday.

Apart from a bike rider who sustained injuries on his leg, no other casualties were reported, the police said.

The incident occurred around 4.30 pm when the driver of a minitruck, loaded with gas cylinders, lost control over the vehicle and collided with an autorickshaw, then hit a two-wheeler after which it hit a BMTC bus from behind before coming to halt. The BMTC bus was waiting for the traffic signal at the Kudlu Gate when the incident occurred.

The injured person, identified as Jayappa, was rushed to St John's Hospital by the traffic policemen at the junction. The police were busy managing slow-moving traffic after clearing the vehicles on the highway.

Driver absconding
The driver of the minitruck absconded abandoning the vehicle at the spot fearing mob fury, the police said.
The casualties were minimal as the minitruck was at slow and the police suspect brake failure to be the reason behind the accident. “We have seized all the vehicles and officials from the RTO will inspect them to ascertain the cause of the accident,” the police said.

Madiwala traffic police have registered a case and are investigating further.
