As Dadasaheb Phalke Award winner Manna Dey came on stage, the audience stood up and applauded for a long time to show their respect.  The first song for the evening was a duet, which he had sung with Lata Mangeshkar — Ae Malik Tere Bandhe Hum.  He was accompanied by Divya Raghavan.

K C Khurana, who has been compering Manna Dey’s shows for the last 40 years, did the same for this one as well.  His shayaris, prior to every song, was something which everyone looked forward to. He recited them so well that the audience could not stop saying bahuth khoob and wah wah constantly.  The second song came from a youngster called Ajay, who sang the popular number Bhavre Ki Gunjan. And people applauded to the beats.

Sarika, a housewife, said, “I love each and every song which Manna Dey sings and has sung in the past. I try not to miss any event where he is performing live. It is simply a pleasure to listen to him. I also try and bring my children when he performs hoping that they will get some inspiration from him.I feel very calm when I listen to him. Every song he sings is like a balm to my ears.”

When Manna Dey sang Ye Raath Bheegi Bheegi, the crowd was swept off their feet.
It was a nostalgic journey for many. Dil Ka Haal  was another song which made many happy. Padma, a classical singer, says, “I like to listen to all kinds of songs and instrumental music. Manna Dey happens to be one of my favourites. It is a pleasure to listen to him live. I also try and pick up a lot when I listen to him. This helps me train myself better.”
