Two more arrests in Kodanadu estate burglary case

Tamil Nadu police on Sunday arrested two more suspects, allegedly involved in the burglary at late former chief minister J Jayalalithaa's Kodanadu estate in Nilgiris district of the State.

Police sources said that with the apprehension of two persons on Sunday morning the total number of arrests in the case rose to six. According to police, the prime suspect Kanagaraj (36), a former car driver of Jayalalithaa, died in a road accident on Saturday.

All the accused were taken to Kodanadu estate, where they re-enacted how they gained entry into the estate after killing the security guard.

Sources from the investigation team also said that the police found some valuables including few wrist watches of Jayalalithaa which were reportedly missing. Though authorities have not formally listed out the missing items from the estate, it is suspected that property documents could be among the valuables stolen from the house.

The array of incidents incidents including the robbery and the murder of a security guard at Jayalalithaa’s estate has shocked the people, with some political leaders suspecting that this was not just a regular theft case.
