BJP MP honey-trap case: Woman arrested
A woman, who claimed that a BJP MP repeatedly raped her, was arrested on Tuesday on charges of attempting to extort Rs five crore from the Parliamentarian after 'honey-trapping' him.

The woman was identified by investigators on Monday itself following Gujarat's Valsad MP K C Patel lodging a complaint claiming that he was filmed in objectionable conditions after serving him soft drinks laced with sedatives.

She was picked up from her house in Uttar Pradesh's Ghaziabad, a town bordering Delhi, on Tuesday morning for questioning and later arrested, police sources said.

The woman had approached court after police had initially refused to register a case. The court ordered Delhi Police to report back to it on May 12 after investigating the case.

She claimed she had filmed the MP's conduct for her own safety. Patel, in his complaint, claimed he was drugged and filmed by the woman who later demanded Rs five crore from him for not making public the objectionable pictures and video.

Denying the allegations, Patel said on Monday, "these are all false allegations. I have full faith in law, I will cooperate with the investigation."

The woman had claimed she was threatened by the MP who said his party is in power in Delhi and Gujarat and he could deal with any threats like filing of FIRs against him.

In his police complaint, Patel claimed that the woman had sough his help and took him to a Ghaziabad house where he was served soft drinks laced with sedatives and filmed.

Police had on Monday said they were investigating whether whether the woman is a serial blackmailer and verifying information that she had similarly trapped an MP last year also.
