Though summers are the perfect time to dress up, the high temperatures make accessorising quite difficult. Keeping it minimal is a must, as heavy accessories make for a sweaty affair.

Choose rings over chunky metal necklaces or chokers and opt for small studs or light-weight earrings to keep it stylish yet simple this season.

Shammy Choraria, a fashion designer, says, "You can wear beaded or long necklaces. Avoid wearing tight necklaces as these are uncomfortable. A nice pair of sunglasses is a must — choose a pair based on the shape of your face. For a casual look, experiment with a funky pair of shades. Sandals with straps are perfect for summer."

The best part of summers are the hats and scarfs that can be teamed with any outfit to give you a 90’s look. 30-year-old, Kruti Panchal, a fashion blogger, says, "Hats are very necessary, they protect you from the heat and also add an elegant touch to your look. Make sure you choose a woven hat and not a suede one. If you like big hats, go for a sun hat or a boater. In small ones, you can try a beret or a flat cap. To add to the oomph factor,  wear bangles or delicate bracelets."

Scarfs are versatile and can be used in different ways to jazz up one’s outfit. From accessories and headgear to using them as poncho tops, skirts and even neckwear, the humble scarf can come in many avatars.

Nischita Babu, another blogger, says, "Scarfs make any outfit look retro. You can style outfits with a silk or cotton scarf. Try out bright coloured and printed scarfs. I personally love tying these around my ponytail or wearing them as a bandana or hair-band. If you are tying it around your neck, keep it loose to prevent sweating."

Another big Summer problem is how to style your hair, especially when you have long tresses.

Shravya Jamwal, a 19-year-old student, says, “You can get pimples at the back of your neck if you sweat a lot. So I always tie up my hair either in a long ponytail, a braid or a bun. You can use metal bands to tie high ponytails. You can also experiment with different kinds of braids and accessorize them with small studs, metal chains or flowers.”

Half-braid hairstyles have become a new fashion trend and can be styled with hair-bands or funky clips. "They are less time consuming and give off a bohemian vibe," she adds.

Investing in a small backpack or good bag is also important. 18-year-old Dhriti Shetty says, "I personally prefer keeping two styles of bags for the summer — slings and tote bags. Totes are super cute and you can carry all summer essentials in these. If you don't like shoulder bags, you can even get a small backpack. Try to get a bag in which you can at least fit a water bottle, which is mandatory to carry around during the summers.”

If you want to go full out retro, you can even carry an eye-catching umbrella. Printed and bright coloured umbrellas look very chic and protect you from getting unevenly tanned.
