Rajghat is all set to go digital to offer its visitors an interactive learning experience about the life and works of Mahatma Gandhi.

Renovation and beautification work will soon be undertaken at the site to make it “accessible to all” with widening of pathways, construction of ramps for differently abled persons, installation of benches for the visitors and granite flooring.

A two meter wide and 1.10 km long peripheral pathway will be developed around Rajghat, besides a foot over bridge across the Lotus Pond on the memorial premises.

“Construction of toilets for the visitors, hedge barriers are among the other facilities to be created at the memorial site,” an Urban Development Ministry official said.

To facilitate this, an “interpretation centre” will be set up and three 46 inch LED screens will be installed around the Mahatma’s Samadhi at Rajghat for displaying visuals relating to the life and contributions of the Father of Nation.

The digital screens around the Samadhi Stahal will also be used for displaying videos of the national movement as well as playing ‘Amrit Vachans’ and audio quotes of Mahatma Gandhi.

“Interpretation Centre will have two screens for interactive learning about the life and works of Mahatma through quizzes on the national movement, movies and speeches of Gandhiji,” an Urban Development Ministry said.

A special cell will also be set up on the premises of the Rajghat which will monitor the progress of the ‘Swachch Bharat Abhiyan’ across the country.
