Money laundering: cops arrest three aides of Nagaraj

 The police have arrested three associates of V Nagaraj, a former corporator, who is at large in a money laundering case.

The arrested are Sarvanan (39), Srinivas (45) and Jai Krishna (35). According to the police, Jai Krishna is a bouncer and would threaten those opposing Nagaraj. Sarvanan had introduced a man named Manjunath G S to Nagaraj for exchange of demonetised notes. Differences cropped up between Nagaraj and Sarvanan over sharing the money, said the police.

Jai Krishna confessed that he and three other bouncers would threaten people who opposed Nagaraj’s decisions. He claimed that Nagaraj’s sons Gandhi and Shastri would also threaten innocent people over money, added the police. The police are questioning the trio to ascertain the whereabouts of Nagaraj.

Held for IPL betting

CCB sleuths have arrested a man for indulging in cricket betting on the IPL match between Gujarat Lions and Delhi Daredevils. The arrested is Afroz Pasha (30), a resident of Gopalpura on Magadi Road.

On a tip-off, the police raided a house on the third floor in Gopalpura and seized two mobile phones and Rs 2.60 lakh cash from Pasha. He would contact his clients on phone and take bets. There are reports that Pasha was involved in similar offences in the past.

Pillion rider killed

A 33-year-old private firm employee was killed in a road accident on Hosur Road in Electronics City. The victim, Ambuja (33), a resident of Hosur, was employed in a private firm in Jayanagar.

The accident occurred around 7.30 pm on Thursday when Ambuja and her colleague Mujahid were returning home on a bike. They fell and suffered injuries as the bike hit a median strip near the flyover on Hosur Road.
They were taken to Manipal Hospital where she succumbed to injuries on Friday morning. Mujahid is recovering, said the police.
