The students were conferred postgraduate degrees, diplomas and fellowships at the 35th annual convocation of IIMB by industrialist and Chairman of the Board of Governors of the institution Mukesh Ambani. Out of the 501 who were conferred various degrees, 268 students belonged to the flagship course, Post Graduate Programme in Management.

The others graduated from programmes such as Post Graduate Programme in Software Enterprise Management (PGSEM), Post Graduate Programme in Public Policy and Management (PGPPM) and Executive Post Graduate Programme in Management (EPGP).

The Convocation address was delivered by ISRO Chairman and IIMB alumni, Dr K Radhakrishnan. He urged the candidates to dream and have strong personal and professional aspirations.

Emphasising the need for strong values and strength of character Radhakrishnan said, “Inculcate the spirit of leadership, but judge by the number of leaders you help create and not by how many you had led. Measure your success not by wealth and fame and do remember to contribute to the society that helped you grow.”

Meanwhile, Mukesh Ambani in his address extolled the history and the pedigree of IIMB and urged the students to live up to the institution’s standards. He added that the knowledge gained at the iconic institution will help in dealing with challenges and opportunities.

Ambani reiterated the need to give back to both the country and society and said, “This is an appropriate time for young graduates to shape the future of India. Respect does not flow from market capitalisation but from solving society’s problems.” He reminded the graduates that they were duty bound to the nation as it had invested its resources in each and every one of them.
