Summer is officially here which means indulging in a sweet escape. Travelling has become more and more cosmopolitan with emphasis on luxury and Instagram-worthy captures. With many tourist destinations playing host to enthusiastic travellers, they immediately turn into fashion playgrounds. Vacation style this summer can be described in just two words- French Riviera.

Shirts
Shirts in various styles have become summer's main-stay with importance on casual and deconstructed versions. The classic white linen shirt gets an update with exaggerated sleeves and modern tailoring. Banker stripes (blue and white stripes) are huge along with tie-up duchess . Don't forget to bare a shoulder or two via off-shoulder and cold-shoulder versions.

Stripes
One simply cannot think of the French Riviera without thinking of nautical stripes. While Breton stripes still remain a classic favourite for casual wear, bolder stripes in bright colours should be your pick for an ideal vacation outfit. A pinstriped shirt dress or a ribbed knit dress with fun stripes are cool and visually appealing.

Straw bag
Gone are the days when straw bags were only used for the beach and for picnics. Complete you sundress and gladiator sandals look with a straw basket bag and colourful tassels, especially for a tropical location. It also has ample space to fit all your belongings in. Alternatively, derive inspiration from the style diva Jane Birkin herself and pair your basket bag with a classic shirt and cropped jeans combination.

Espradilles
An espadrille is a light canvas shoe with a plaited fibre sole. Espadrille loafers can take you right from the airport to the beach and take up less space in your suitcase. Funkier versions however are laden with floral or Aztec prints. Look for a wedge heel for some height and tie-up detail for a feminine look.

Pom-Pom jewellery
Ethnic inspired colourful jewellery is replacing metallic jewellery thus lending a bohemian touch to summer ensembles. Play with colourful earrings and tasseled neckpieces and wear them with white cotton dresses and espadrilles. You can also wear a single shoulder grazing earring for modern drama.

Hats
Hats not only keep the heat at bay but complete the look. An added bonus is that it takes care of bad hair days! You can never go wrong with straw hats but the latest entrant is the trendy baker hat made popular in Coachella. Keep your hats wide-brimmed with bow details and fun patterns.

Additionally don't forget to throw in summer prints and patterns like paisley, tropical and gingham in clothes or accessories. Head wraps and skinny scarves take centre stage while fun pool sliders are making their presence felt for being high on comfort without compromising on style.
