Dikshit, Narayanamurthy given honorary doctorate by Hamdard

Dikshit and Narayanamurthy were conferred D. Litt (Honoris Causa) by Saiyid Hamid, Chancellor of Jamia Hamdard here on the occasion of the varsity's 9th convocation. "I am overwhelmed by the honour bestowed on me. I don't know whether I deserve this honour," Dikshit, who was conferred doctorate for her contributions to the Indian polity in general and governance of Delhi in particular, said. She said making Delhi a city where people can live in harmony was her passion.

The Chief Minister also assured the varsity administration that her government will help them in all possible terms to expand its campus. "The varsity is looking for 100 acres of land to expand the campus. I am there for you people," she said.

Narayanamurthy, who was recognised for his service in public and community life, said Infosys is a good example that companies in India can be run legally and ethically. "It is also an example for the fact than Indian companies can compete with global firms," he said. In all, 1340 students were conferred degrees in various faculties by Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee.
