High Court notice to Baldwin School

 The vacation bench of the High Court of Karnataka on Thursday ordered notice to Baldwin Girls and Boys High School and the Baldwin Methodist Education Society.

Notices were ordered based on a PIL seeking directions to the institution not to insist parents of the students to buy books and uniform from the school.

A PIL has been filed by Rev Sudarshan Babu and five other parents whose children study in this school, seeking direction to strictly implement Rule 11(3) of the Karnataka Education Rules that says books and uniforms need not be bought from a single vendor. The parents have contended that the prices of the books and the uniforms sold in school were expensive compared to prices quoted by vendors outside the school.
