Sailing from the coast of Mangaluru is ‘Pullimunchi’, a coastal cuisine restaurant, which serves a variety of ‘ghee roasts’, fiery curries, seafood dishes, ‘appams’ and much more.

For Bengalureans who relish spicy seafood, this restaurant is the perfect place to head to. It is headed by Seema Rai Alva who likes to share her passion for good food with everyone. The place sticks to serving only Mangalurean and coastal cuisine as they believe in maintaining the authenticity of a single cuisine rather than being termed as a multicuisine restaurant.

The ‘Prawn ghee roast’ with ‘Neer dosa’ — a thin rice ‘dosa’ — is a combination worth trying here. The traditional fish curries and ‘fish fry’ are also quite wonderful. One of the house specials is the ‘Masala chicken curry’ with ‘Idiyappam’(rice noodles) or even ‘Kori roti’. The ‘Kerala parotta’ and ‘Chicken sukka’ make for a filling and satisfying combination.

To add to the dining experience are the cooling traditional juices and soups that they offer. The ‘Bonda mix’ is a nice mix of fresh tender coconut water and lime juice. The traditional kokum based ‘Solkadi’, rarely available in the city, is also quite refreshing.

The desserts provide a nice end to the meal. The ‘Tender coconut souffle’ with chunky tender coconut pieces is quite delectable. They also do takeaways and cater to outdoor occasions.

 The ambience and the food at ‘Pullimunchi’ go hand in hand. On the inside, it is set up like a typical house you would find near the coasts of Manguluru. The traditional wooden artefacts and paintings make the interiors interesting.

The homely yet professional service is impressive. The owner makes sure that the customers are attended to properly. The overall experience is something to take home and cherish.
