The Karnataka Textbook Society has begun the process of uploading the revised state syllabus textbooks on its website.

The revised textbooks of Class I to X which are to be introduced from the 2017-18 academic year are available on the site http://www.ktbs.kar.nic.in. Nearly 50% of the 511 titles have already been uploaded and the remaining will be available on the site within a few days.

The Society intends to complete the process before the commencement of the academic year on June 1. As of now, Mathematics, Science, Social Science and Hindi, Kannada, English, Sanskrit, Telugu, Marathi, Tulu, Arabic and Urdu language textbooks are available. This year, the textbooks have been divided into two parts for printing and will be available on the site in two parts, as well.

Narasimhaiah, managing director of the Textbook Society, said, “Students in urban areas usually prefer to see the textbooks online. When they are online, academicians and general public also view them to see if there are any errors.”

Following complaints about errors in the state syllabus textbooks, the government had set up a committee headed by academician Baragur Ramachandrappa to revise them. Students of class I to VIII will be using the revised textbooks and class IX and X  will be using NCERT textbooks this year.
