Electrical glitch affects Metro service

Last Updated 20 May 2017, 20:18 IST

Metro services were disrupted on Saturday at the Swami Vivekananda Station following an electrical glitch, noticed around 9.25 pm.

Trains going from Majestic towards Baiyappanahalli had to wait for clearance while the train in the opposite direction did the stretch. This affected the frequency of trains: it became 25-30 minutes from the usual 10, and hundreds of commuters were stranded. The trains that arrived were packed, and more inconvenience was in store when people spilled out. Supervisors and security staff didn't know what was happening either.

At 10 pm, they pulled down the main shutters at the MG Road station. The BMRCL said trains had been temporarily stopped between Baiyappanahalli and MG Road. “The services will be restored in about half hour," an official said.  But the confusion continued and services were later called off for the day.
