Actor Roopika has a lot to be excited about, given the many projects that she is working on. Having been in the industry as a child artiste, she will now be seen playing a gemologist in one project and
performing stunts in another.

In a chat with Tini Sara Anien, the young artiste talks about her movies.

What are the different projects that you’re a part of?
‘Raaga’, which was something very different, released last month. The shoot for ‘Manjari’ is over. I am starring opposite ‘Urvi’ fame actor Prabhu in that. I’m also a part of ‘Rudrakshipura’ and ‘Third Class’.

Tell us about your roles.
I play Kavya, a US-returned woman in ‘Manjari’. It is a tale with elements of love, mystery and horror. In ‘Rudrakshipura’, I play the role of a gemologist and run an NGO. While in ‘Third Class’, I will be enacting the role of a girl from an esteemed family.

The most challenging part that you played.
The role in ‘Manjari’ was very challenging. I have many rope stunts in the movie for which I didn’t use any dupes. It is a very performance-oriented role. I shot almost two to three pages of the script in one take, which was a very proud moment.

How do you manage your time?
Each movie is different for me. It has been crazy to manage it all, but I’m loving it. The costumes, the lines and even the modulation for each of the lines is different. I’m a theatre artiste so I am able to adapt easily. I love exploring myself through different roles.

How do you prepare for a role?
I like to be natural which helps connect with the audience easily. Also, when I go to the sets, I follow the instructions of the director.

Your favourite actors...
My all-time favourites are Soundarya and Madhuri Dixit. I also like Alia Bhatt. In Sandalwood, I particularly like Sruthi Hariharan. She’s very trendy and I love the way she carries herself.

Lessons you’ve learnt from the industry...
I’ve learnt to be patient. I have also learnt a lot about acting from senior artistes. I’ve picked up tips on how to mould myself in a particular role.
