Man sets wife on fire, she succumbs to burns

According to the police, the couple who have a son, used to fight occasionally as Ayesha doubted her husband Nissar’s fidelity. Tuesday night witnessed one such fight. A bitter Ayesha doused herself with kerosene and threatened to set herself alight.

Daring her to carry out her threat, Nissar lit a match, and set her ablaze. Neighbours shifted Ayesha to Victoria Hospital, where she gave a statement before she died. Nissar too suffered burns and is being treated at a hospital.

Saudi held for mayhem

A Saudi Arabian student of a City college was arrested after he, in a drunken state, reportedly damaged about 13 vehicles parked on Katriguppe Main Road here on Wednesday.

According to police, Muhammad Aman (24), a BBM II student of Shri Bhagwan Mahavir Jain College, J C Road, who was in an inebriated state allegedly drove his car onto the motorcycles parked near Shri Krishna College in ITI Colony around 12:45 pm, police added.

A student also suffered minor injuries. Banashankari traffic police rushed to the spot and arrested Aman and registered a case  of rash driving and causing hurt by act endangering life or personal safety of others.
