Adityanath offers prayers at makeshift Ram temple in Ayodhya

Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath offered prayers at the makeshift Ram Temple in Ayodhya on Wednesday.

His visit comes a day after a special CBI court here framed conspiracy charges against senior BJP leaders L K Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti for the demolition of the Babri Masjid on December 6, 1992.

While speaking at a function, Adityanath said he is in favour of construction of a Ram Temple through mutual dialogue. “The government is ready to facilitate a dialogue to resolve the issue,” he said.

Adityanath is the second chief minister to visit the makeshift Ram Temple after the demolition of the disputed structure. In 2002, the then chief minister Rajnath Singh had offered prayers at the makeshift Ram Temple.

Adityanath also offered prayers at the famous Hanumagarhi temple, besides visiting ‘Ram Ki Paidi’ in the temple town. He announced several sops for Ayodhya.

The chief minister said like the famous ‘Ganga aarti’, a ‘Saryu aarti’ would also be performed on the banks of the Saryu river.

The chief minister was accompanied by Mahant Dharm Das, an accused in the Babri Masjid demolition case, and other prominent seers of Ayodhya.
