State government’s chief whip in Legislative Council and Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee spokesperson Ivan D’Souza said the new office-bearers of KPCC will work for the victory of Congress, projecting the achievements of the Siddaramaiah-led state government in the last four years.

Addressing media persons at his office at Mangaluru City Corporation here on Thursday, he said he welcomes the All India Congress Committee’s decision. The Congress leaders were called to Delhi and all the 16 office-bearers of KPCC were elected in the presence of AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi, he added.

‘No truth in rumours’

He said there is no truth in the rumours that some leaders are unhappy with their responsibilities given to them. Also, the rumour, being spread by BJP saying that the state will face election before the state government completes its full term, is far from truth.

The government, led by Chief Minister Siddaramaiah, has given a stable administration, unlike the BJP’s tenure. There were three chief ministers in the five-year rule of  BJP. Also, the previous government faced corruption charges, he charged.

‘Fake assurances’

Criticising the Union government, he said all the assurances of the NDA government have turned out to be fake. No jobs have been generated and the problems of farmers have not been looked into too, he claimed.

A total of Rs 1,25,000 was distributed under the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund to two beneficiaries for the treatment of serious ailments.
