Faux Pas?: Lalu's elder son Tej Pratap younger to Tejaswi?

Last Updated 04 June 2017, 12:42 IST
Is Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap younger to Lalu-Rabri's youngest son Tejaswi Yadav? It appears so, even though the RJD maintained that the goof-up in the affidavit could be a clerical error. The issue would not have raised eyebrows had ‘Intermediate topper’ Ganesh Kumar not been arrested and sent to jail on the charges of manipulating his age.

Lalu’s two sons, both ministers in Nitish Cabinet(with Tejaswi being the Deputy Chief Minister too), would not have hit the headlines on Sunday had their affidavits not caught the attention of BJP leaders.

The affidavits submitted before the Election Commission on the eve of Bihar Assembly election in October 2015 shows that Lalu’s youngest son Tejaswi Yadav, a school dropout, is 26 years old, while his elder brother Tej Pratap, who is Health, Forest and Environment Minister in Nitish Cabinet, is 25 years old. (See the copy of the affidavit).

Even though the RJD maintained that the faux pas could be a clerical mistake by those who prepared the affidavit, the BJP was quick to gun for scalp of Lalu’s two sons. “If an Intermediate topper Ganesh Kumar, who has written well in his exams, but has been arrested for furnishing wrong information about his age, why should the Nitish Government not take any action against Lalu’s two sons for submitting incorrect information to the EC about their respective age?,” asked senior BJP leader Sushil Kumar Modi. Modi, in the last two months, has exposed allegedly shady land deals of Lalu Prasad and his family members.
