Pained by the bad press received for the second consecutive year on the intermediate examination conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board (BSEB), Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Monday said he has taken it as a challenge and will clean the Augean stables in the Education Department.

“I have taken this as a challenge and will stem the rot, come what may. Last year, there were large-scale irregularities in intermediate exams. Those who were involved in it were put behind bars. This year the examination was free and fair. But the topper manipulated his age. His result has been suspended and the candidate sent to jail,” said Nitish.

Meanwhile, the ‘Arts topper’ Ganesh Kumar, who was found to be of 42 years and not 24 years  was on Monday taken on remand by the Patna police for further interrogation.
