Youth Janata Dal (S) district committee president Akshit Suvarna has urged the Mangaluru City Corporation to look into the waterlogging problem in various parts of the city.

Addressing media persons at the district JD(S) office, he said the MCC has failed to solve the practical problems of the city as its members are engaged in internal fights. The issues on stormwater drain, road repair, bus stand etc have not been addressed so far, he said.

The MCC insists upon others not to display illegal flexes and hoardings. But, ironically, the hoardings on corporators themselves are put up at many places. Why the MCC has not take any action? he wanted to know.

Banks have been harassing loan borrowers and as a result, the beneficiaries’ future is bleak. Many cannot avail government subsidies at the right time due to the attitude of the bank officials, he charged.

He said that the private educational institutions have been collecting more than the prescribed fee, violating the rules. This is an injustice done to less privileged students. Artificial sand shortage has been created by illegal sand transporters. Even though sand is being transported to outer districts and states, there is no sand for poor people to build houses, he charged.

Also, there are a lot of illegal activities going on in the name of massage parlours and skill games, he said and urged to initiate action against them.

Youth JD(S) district general secretary Faizal, secretary Deepak, organising secretary Ashik Ismail, and Sinan were present.
