FIR against six for submitting fake certificates for promotion

The Jayalakshmipuram police on Friday filed a First Information Report (FIR) against six state government employees for producing fake marks cards to obtain promotion.

Officials working as food safety officers in different districts had submitted fake certificates of the Karnataka State Open University (KSOU) to the Health and Family Welfare Department for promotion.
The suspects

The suspects are Saranappa and Satish of Gangavati in Koppal district, Ramesh G Reddy of Chikkodi, Kashi M Vali of Sandur in Ballari district, Shivayogappa and Mallanna of Shahapur in Yadgir district.

The police filed an FIR after the KSOU authorities lodged a complaint.

According to sources, as many as nine people had submitted their degree certificates to the Health and Family Department seeking promotion. During the verification of the certificates by the KSOU, the crime came to light.
