Traffic congestion
It takes 15 minutes to travel from CNR Rao Circle (IISc Circle) to Sadashivanagar police station — a distance of just one kilometre.
Manpower and precious fuel suffer a loss considering that thousands of commuters pass through this stretch. I request the traffic police to consult the experts to ease congestion at this point.

Why negotiate with traffic offenders?
In many cases of blatant traffic violation, police seem to start a ‘negotiation’ with the offender.
This only gives the impression that police are being lenient and corrupt. It is high-time our under-staffed traffic police became strict in enforcing the law to safeguard the interests of other road users. Nipping a petty offender in the bud will go a long way in setting a welcome precedent and creating a safe and responsible traffic environment.

Traffic congestion at Thindlu Circle
There is heavy traffic at Thindlu Circle as it is the inlet/outlet for Vidyaranyapura, Nanjappa Circle, Kodigehalli and the Outer Ring Road connecting through Thindlu village.
People are in a hurry and do not adhere to basic traffic rules, which results in snarls and accidents. A big tree at the roundabout, under which vendors sell flowers and fruits, has been causing inconvenience to pedestrians. As Agricultural Minister Krishna Byre Gowda’s office is close-by, he must be aware of the issue.
Police or the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike should step in and construct a barricade near the tree and deploy a few movable gates.

Ply Chakra buses to Allalasandra
People living in and around Allalasandra and Janapriya Apartments (508 flats) have been facing commuting problems. Just one bus (284E) operates here without a fixed schedule.
We request the Bengaluru Metropolitan Transport Corporation to introduce the smaller Chakra buses that can go via the ramp from the Allalasandra bridge.
Three buses during peak hours and two during non-peak hours will immensely benefit the residents. Alternately, they can extend buses from NES to Allalasandra and back.
This will help students and office-goers alike. Hope the BMTC considers the request.

Crematorium needed
There is just one crematorium at Kallahalli between Banaswadi Road and Old Madras Road for the ever-growing eastern Bengaluru.
We request the BBMP to take quick action to construct two crematoria — one between KR Puram
and Whitefield, and another between Marathahalli and Whitefield.

Start Metro run before launch
It’s nice to see that safety inspection has been successfully completed on the North-South Metro line. Since the Majestic station has been fully completed, it is suggested that a clearance may be obtained to extend the green line up to Majestic on a pilot basis and start commercial operations to get a feel of the rush.
I think that will give the BMRCL an opportunity to better manage the peak-hour rush at the Majestic station. If the entire Phase I is thrown open to the public the same day, it will be a herculean task and the BMRCL could fail to manage the rush. Please think about it.

No space for pedestrians
The footpath next to Manipal Northside Hospitals at Malleswaram 11th Cross, opposite the Malleswaram railway station, has been blocked by vendors who use it to stock up used cans.
That’s dangerous as pedestrians have to circumvent and walk on the main road. Requests to the vendors have fallen on deaf ears. The officials must look into the problem.

No regular supply of water
The residents of Gururaja Layout in Doddanekkundi do not get regular water supply. We hardly get water once in a week. Even after filing a complaint online, water is available only for two hours at very low pressure. I request the BWSSB officials to supply water for at least eight hours in a week.

Defence land a dumping yard
There is an unused defence land in the heart of Rustam Bagh Layout (ward number 113) which is hardly maintained.
Defence authorities have turned a blind eye to the misuse of the land that has become a garbage dumping yard and a breeding ground for mosquitoes, rodents, insects and snakes.
As a result, residents of apartment complexes located opposite the land suffer with no solution in sight.
When the matter was brought to the notice of the local corporator, he washed his hands of by saying the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike has no role to play in the matter.
As the monsoon has set in, the problem is likely to aggravate. Whom should we approach to get the matter resolved before any serious damage is done to the health of the residents?

Large tree a threat to residents
There is a large yellow flower tree at 4th cross in Banashankari 3rd Stage, 3rd Phase, Channammanakere.
The tree poses a threat to nearby houses and the electric lines as its branches have grown unevenly.
During the monsoon a few years ago, a big branch crashed on the electric line and damaged four electricity poles.
We gave 14 complaints to the Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike to trim the tree’s branches but there has been no response until now.

Bad roads in Vaderapura
Roads in Vaderapura (Nitte College Road, 200-300 metres from airport road), which consists of mainly Jayamuni Nagar and Komaladevi Enclave, have been in a deplorable condition for more than two years now. Motorists find it difficult to manoeuvre the vehicles through this area. Large, sharp stones lying on the road make it harder. Rainfall and the dysfunctional streetlights only worsen the situation. The authorities concerned are requested to repair the roads at the earliest.

Garbage problems in Nehrunagar
Garbage is being dumped callously on Railway Parallel Road in Nehrunagar. Residents and restaurants use it as a dumping yard. In addition, passersby use this place as a public toilet. This has led to an increase in rodents and mosquitoes. The stench emanating from the garbage poses a serious health hazard to residents. People continue to dump garbage in spite of our repeated requests to stop it. Since pourakarmikas (civic workers) do not collect garbage from each household, people dump garbage on the road and do not even segregate it. BBMP officials should look into the menace and take the much-needed action.
