A few months ago an attack on the Borussia Dortmund team bus forced the Champions League quarterfinal tie between the German side and Monaco to be postponed by a day.

It was then that the supporters of the French team showed their solidarity by offering emergency accommodation for the visiting fans via social media using the hashtag #bedsforawayfans.

On somewhat similar lines, the West Block Blues, a fanbase of Bengaluru FC, have taken to social media with their initiative of #BedsForTravellingFans ahead of India’s Asian Cup qualifier tie against Kyrgyzstan on Tuesday.

Fans from the city have united to open their houses and are welcoming all the travelling fans who wish to travel to Bengaluru for the tie at the Sree Kanteerava stadium. “I think that’s something that we can do for our brothers,” said Waseem Ahmed, an engineering graduate who is leading this initiative.

“We saw this happen in France earlier and we think it’s one way that we can encourage more guys to come down to Bengaluru to see India in action.”
