According to the police, the victims, who were trying to touch the chariot, were pushed by the surging crowds. The deceased were identified as Veerabhadraiah Hiremath (25) of Tangadagi village in Bijapur, Channabasavaiah Hiremath (55) of Hunasi in Gulbarga and M Eshwaraiah (35) of Hanagi in Shimoga district.
