A software engineer has been arrested for creating a fake Twitter account in the name of Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and tweeting on behalf of the chief minister.
The suspect is Madhusudan, a software engineer from Mandya. A special team from cybercrime police station of the CID traced him on Friday evening. During questioning, he revealed that he had created the fake Twitter account —@cmofkarnatka) and had tweeted. The suspect later renamed it as @nanegadappa and also removed identifiables from the account. The police are questioning the suspect and refused to divulge further details.
Dinesh Amin Mattu, the media advisor to chief minister, had lodged a complaint in this regard on December 29, 2016.
