JOIN USAt shops and on websites, shoppers made the most at shops and online websites for last-minute deals on items ranging from mobiles to cars, ahead of GST coming into effect from midnight. Several shops remained open till 11.30 pm offering pre-GST discounts to clear the inventory.
Most of the city's malls saw high footfall with customers keen to grab the attractive deals. A few chains like Sangeetha mobile and Titan kept their branches open till 11.30 pm on Friday while e-retailers like Amazon, Filpkart, and Snapdeal too rolled out pre-GST clearance sale offers in almost all categories.
Many leading fashion outlets in city were also seen giving huge discounts of between 40% and 70%. In stores like Maxx and Reliance Trends, the offers say “buy one, get two free”. “Today is weekend and today was my best shopping day out, where I shopped a lot, I have not seen these kind of offers before,” said Lesly Joseph, student.
