Educomp Solutions planning to hire 2,500 people

"We expect to grow (manpower) by another 30-40 per cent in current year on a conservative estimate. This would translate to hire about 2,000-2,500 employees during FY 2010- 11," Educomp Solutions HR Head MS Venkatesh told reporters. Educomp Solutions has ramped up its headcount by over 50 per cent in the last one year and at present employs over 8,000 people across the country.

"Our recruitment plans are quite aggressive... we have to look at the new hiring numbers across all business verticals of Smart class, Edureach, Eduinfra, IndiaCan, Educomp Raffles etc," Venkatesh added. The Educomp group has 27 offices worldwide, including an office in Canada, 20 in India, two in Singapore, one in Sri Lanka and three in the United States. The group reaches out to over 26,000 schools and 15 million learners and educators worldwide.

According to experts, robust hiring is likely to take place in the education sector in the coming years as the expansion in the sector is increasing the need for more school teachers and other staff. About the overall education sector, Venkatesh said, "there will be plenty of requirements for content developers, instructional designers, subject matter experts for developing digital content, project managers for content development and Research & Development, teaching faculty in rural India and for specialised professional courses in all cities".

According to official statistics, the education sector faces a shortage of 8,00,000 teachers in the primary and upper-primary schools and over the next 10 years, secondary schools would have to recruit 5,00,000 teachers.
