Man beats alcoholic mother to death

Frustrated over his mother’s addiction to liquor, a 25-year-old man bludgeoned her to death using a wooden log on Sunday night. The deceased, Saraswathi (45), was a resident of Bandenagara in Old Baiyappanahalli, the police said.

According to the police, Prabhakar, an autorickshaw driver, was a caring son to his mother. Despite Prabhakar repeatedly advising his mother to give up liquor, Saraswathi continued with her habit and create a ruckus on the street where they lived. On Sunday night, Saraswathi consumed liquor and created a ruckus.

An enraged Prabhakar picked a quarrel with her and ended up hitting her with a wooden log. Neighbours, who saw her lying in a pool of blood, shifted her to a nearby hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries on the way.

Neighbours alerted the police and Prabhakar. Later, Prabhakar surrendered himself to the police. The Baiyappanahalli police have registered a case of murder.
