Businessman killed in highway crash

A businessman was killed in a collision between a car and a goods container on National Highway-4 near Nelamangala in Bengaluru Rural district on Monday.

The deceased Syed Ahmed (30) owned a cloth showroom at Kuluhalli near Dobbspet in Bengaluru Rural district, the police said.

The accident occurred when Ahmed was heading to Tumakuru for a business visit. He lost control of his car after one of the tyres burst at Dobbspet on National Highway-4. The car hit the median and entered the other side of the road. It collided with a goods  container that was coming to Bengaluru.

Ahmed was killed on the spot due to massive injuries. The accident on the busy road resulted in traffic congestion for over an hour. The police cleared both the vehicles involved in the accident and shifted the victim’s body to the Nelamangala government hospital for post-mortem.

Hit by train
An unidentified man was killed on the spot after a train hit him near Chikkabanavara railway station in the city on Sunday night.

A few local residents noticed a body near the railway tracks on Monday morning and informed the police.

The victim is aged around 30 years. It is not clear if it was a case of suicide or an accident, the police said. The body has been shifted to M S Ramaiah Hospital mortuary.

The Yeshwantpur railway police have registered a case.
