Revenue inspector Doddaiah has lodged a police complaint against Srirangapatna MLA Ramesh Bandisiddegowda, saying the latter abused him and issued a murder threat.

In the complaint lodged with Superintendent of Police G Radhika, Doddaiah said he was participating in a ‘Janaspandana’ programme at Naguvanahalli Gram Panchayat on Monday, when the MLA came there, abused him and threatened him in front of other officials.

“I left the spot thereafter. Then, the MLA called me over my mobile phone and threatened to file a caste abuse case if I lodged a complaint with the police. His supporters waylaid me near Brahmapuracanal and threatened to kill me,” the complaint says.

Superintendent of Police G Radhika told DH that Doddaiah sent a copy of the complaint to the governor, Assembly speaker, chief minister, Lokayukta and the human rights commission.

“An FIR has been filed in Srirangapatna, based on the complaint. A probe will be conducted soon,” she said.

However, Bandisiddegowda denied the incident. He said people were outraged against Doddaiah at the meeting as there were many charges over illegal land transfers against him. I intervened and tried to pacify the public, he said.

Taluk Panchayat member Santosh and farmers’ leader S Somasundar have lodged complaints against Doddaiah over illegal land dealings.

Audio clip
An audio clip of 1 minute 57 seconds of Bandisiddegowda abusing Doddaiah has gone viral on social media. The MLA said, he usually speaks in rural accent and the clip being circulated was from a different date and was being used to harasss him.
