'We should pressurise govt for permanent irrigation'

MLA urges one person in every family to take part in the struggle

Participating in the Janaspandana programme in Dibbur village in the taluk, he said: “Since there are no rivers in the region, we should pressurise the State government to implement irrigation expert Paramashivaiah’s report.”

Bacchegowda added that leaders of all political parties should leave party affiliations aside and strive to ensure that a facility for permanent irrigation is set up in the district. They should even be prepared to sacrifice their power for the cause.

Power crisis
Training his guns against the State government for irregular power supply, he said the government was being biased in the supply of power to the region.

“Farmers in the plains need power supply to pump water from the borewells, which are the only sources of water in the region. Therefore, the Government should supply electricity to ensure that farmers do not suffer crop losses,” Bachegowda added.
The legislator heaped praises on former chief minister H D Kumaraswamy for setting up a PU college in Dibbur, which helped students, especially girls, complete pre-university education in their own villages.

Taluk Panchayat member K R Reddy urged elected representatives to work sincerely in order to ensure speedy implementation of development projects and added that this would encourage officials to work proactively.

During the programme, officials of various departments briefed those present about the benefits extended by each department and reviewed petitions submitted by the public.
JD(S) leader Venkatanarayanappa from Manchanabele pointed that public had to wait for a week to get information from any department and urged officials to take corrective measures to change this.

Zilla Panchayat member Prabhavathamma, village head Munnegowda, Tahsildhar Poornima and others were present.
