The state government on Thursday sought 10 days’ time from the High Court of Karnataka to identify the post that would be offered to N S Leesha, the Malleswaram blast victim.

Additional Advocate General A S Ponnanna said that the post is provisionally identified as per the court orders and he would require another 10 days to inform the court about the post that would be offered to Leesha.

A division bench comprising Justice Jayant Patel and Justice S Sujatha was hearing a contempt petition filed by Leesha seeking directions to the state and the Central governments to comply with the court orders.

Another division bench had passed an order directing the division bench not to proceed with the contempt petition till the writ appeal filed by the Central government is heard.

Assistant Solicitor General Prabhulinga K Navadagi submitted to the court that the Centre does not have any objections to the job offered by the state government to Leesha.  He said that their appeal is limited only with regard to general directions issued to the Centre to formulate a policy on compensation for bomb blast victims and to frame legislation on the same.
