This exclusive film festival will be the first of its kind in India and five handpicked movies from yesteryears will be screened from April 7 to 11 at the Bal Bhavan Auditorium from 10 am onwards.

“It has been our constant endeavour to cater to the needs of elderly citizens of our country. We reach out to them through 24-hour helpline, Dignity Dialogue magazine and Trusted information on call besides many other aids for the elderly,” said Dr Sheilu Sreenivasan, founder-president of Dignity Foundation, speaking at a press conference.

“During our day to day interaction with elderly citizens, we found that there were very limited options for entertainment so we decided to hold this film festival. We have also taken a similar initiative in other cities,” added Jayaprakash, the director. The festival will see many veteran film celebrities from actors, actresses, directors and technicians from yesteryears like Nagalakshmi Puttanna Kanagal, Shivaram, Leelavathi, Bharathi Vishnuvardhan, cinematographer V K Murthy and several others host the screenings. The movies will include: Bangarada Manushya, Naagara Haavu, Navrang, Pyaasa and The odd Couple.
