While Janata Dal (United) President and Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar holds the party’s national executive meeting, rebel MP Sharad Yadav would hold a parallel meet at a different venue.

The two erstwhile partners who journeyed together under a single party would take a diversion on Saturday with Kumar all set to adopt a resolution to join the BJP-led coalition and Yadav’s ‘real JD(U)’ would highlight Kumar’s utter disregard for the mandate of Bihar people for the secular coalition.

Buoyed by his attempt on Thursday in bringing all major opposition parties under one umbrella in the national capital, Yadav would flex his muscles and would try to prove that he is no George Fernandes.

“Just wait till Saturday. You will see over 3000 party leaders and workers throughout the country participating in the meet convened by Sharad ji,” rebel leader Arun Srivastava, suspended as the JD (U) general secretary last week, said.

The Yadav faction had earlier claimed that it is the “real JD (U)” and dubbed the Kumar-led group of the party “sarkari JD (U)”.

“Nitish Kumar has himself claimed that his party was confined only to Bihar, while ours is the original JD (U) with the backing of 14 State units,” Srivastava said.
