Doklam deadlock will end soon, says Rajnath

Last Updated 21 August 2017, 20:41 IST

With the Doklam standoff refusing to die down, Home Minister Rajnath Singh on Monday expressed hope that the deadlock will be broken soon. Singh said he was sure that China would make a positive move.

Singh’s comments came even as the two countries are yet to find a common ground on the Doklam issue, while there is a build up on the border. New Delhi has said that only dialogue would help resolve the issue.

Admitting that there was a deadlock, Singh said, “There will be a solution soon and I am sure China will make a positive move. I want to convey a message to all the neighbouring countries that India wants peace.”

He said China was also inclined to a peaceful solution while emphasising that India had neither attacked any country nor had it harboured expansionist ambitions. “We expect a positive move from China,” Singh said at a function organised by the Indo-Tibetan Border Force (ITBP), which guards the 4,057 km Sino-India border.
