Form task force to run canteens: MLA

Congress MLA from Yeshwantpur S T Somashekar on Monday urged Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to set up a task force comprising elected representatives and civil society members to ensure Indira Canteens run smoothly.

Somashekar, who wrote to the chief minister in his capacity as the president of the city Congress unit, also urged the government to increase the canteens’ capacity to cater to 1,000 people a day against the existing 300-400. “To ensure the success of Indira Canteens and to address initial problems of timely service, I request you to order the setting up of a task force comprising legislators, corporators, NGOs and social workers,” Somashekar said.
