The state Cabinet approved the comprehensive development of roads under TenderSURE around two of Bengaluru’s busiest areas — Majestic and K R Market — among others, on Monday.

Briefing reporters after the meeting, Law Minister T B Jayachandra said the roads include Subedar Chatram Road, Gubbi Thotadappa Road, Dhanvanthri Road, W H Hanumantappa Road, the roads around Majestic (Gandhinagar) and around K R Market. The roads will be developed at a cost of about Rs 105 crore.

In another decision, the Cabinet gave its approval for “package - 1” works for white topping of select roads in Bengaluru at a cost of Rs 292 crore. Roads will be concretised, making them superior and increasing their load carrying capacity.

K T Nagaraj, chief engineer, project central, Bruhat Bengaluru Mahanagara Palike (BBMP) said five roads come under package – 1, including Magadi Road, Krishna Rajendra Road and Tumakuru Road. “The tenders for package 2 has been approved already but the tenders for package-1 are yet to be finalised. The work will start in about 15 days,” said Nagaraj.

The Cabinet approved the release of Rs 1.61 crore, which is part of state’s share, for construction of a vehicular underpass in front of Bengaluru International Exhibition Centre on Bengaluru-Nelamangala section of NH-4, Jayachandra said.
