Dacoits loot house, decamp with Rs 2 lakh, jewellery

Police said the dacoits attacked the house of M V Dasharathi, development officer, National Insurance Company, who was busy with his daughter’s wedding near the town. The family members along with their friends and relatives had left home around 8 pm along with the bride. Around 10:30 pm, Dasharathi’s relative, Manjunath who came to the house saw some people standing in front of the house. As he entered the compound, the dacoits brandished a talwar and snatched the keys from him.

They took him inside the house beat him and broke open the almirah. All of them had talwars and one person had a pistol. The dacoits have decamped with Rs 2 lakh cash, eight pairs of ear studs, a pair of necklace. Besides, they robbed Manjunath of Rs 5,500 cash, a gold chain, ring and a mobile phone. Later, Manjunath was locked inside a room.
Around 00:30 am neighbours heard Manjunath shouting for help  and later released him.
