The Opposition BJP on Monday petitioned Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Anil Kumar Jha, seeking removal of bogus voters from the electoral rolls ahead of the 2018 Assembly election.

There are more than 25,000 unauthorised voters in Tumakuru city alone, according to the petition BJP vice-president and former minister B Somashekar submitted.

Jha, after receiving the petition, said the draft electoral rolls would be published on October 25. Voters will be given one month’s time to file applications for inclusions (Form 6), deletions (Form 7) or modifications (Form 8). All forms will be processed by the third week of December and the final rolls will be published in January 2018. Currently, there are about 4.75 crore registered voters in the state.
