Suspend TP official for insulting Dalit woman, says DSS

Members of Dalit associations and Karnataka Rajya Raitha Sangha have demanded the suspension of Nanjangud Taluk Panchayat Executive Officer Revanna, for publicly insulting a woman farmer, recently.

DSS district convenor Chunchanahalli Mallesh alleged that the officer, who participated in an awareness jatha, had insulted a Dalit woman, by garlanding her for not having a toilet at her home. He has also made the students tell her: “If you really have respect, ask your husband to construct a toilet within three days”. He had the incident video recorded, which has gone viral on the social media.

Mallesh condemned the behaviour of the official. “The officer, who should create awareness among the villagers, most of whom are illiterate, has set a bad example. The local police should have lodged a suomotu case against Revanna. He should be immediately suspended or the organisation members will stage a protest in front of the district in-charge minister,” he warned.
