'Respond to problems of senior citizens'

“Senior citizens are wealth of the country and taking care of them is the responsibility of all citizens. Each youngster must develop the quality of responding to the problems of senior citizens”, said Zilla Panchayat Chief Executive Officer Abhiram Shankar.

He noted this while speaking at the World Senior Citizens’ Day programme organised by the District Legal Services Authority, district administration, zilla panchayat, District Physically Challenged and Senior Citizens Empowerment Department, Women & Children Development and other organisations, at Kannada Bhavan in Raichur on Sunday.

Lamenting that the present day youth are not showing respect towards senior citizens, Mr Abhiram said that they deserve the respect for the love have shown towards their children and the sacrifice made for them.

He asked youth to take care of the health of senior citizens.

He called upon people to create a healthy society by getting toilets constructed in their houses. He asked social and other organisations to create awareness on health and sanitation and use of toilets.

Rukminibai, Shivanna Kuntoji, senior citizens Ramanna Hawale, Mahadevappa and others were felicitated on the occasion.

Officer for Physically Challenged Shridevi, ‘Suraksha’ President Pavan Patil, R Nagraj, Danangowda, Danamma, Rukmini Dandappa Biradar and others were present.
