7 held in Ashoknagar murder case

The police have arrested seven people in connection with a youth’s murder at Ashokanagar in the wee hours of Sunday.

The arrested are Venkatesh, Vijay, Vijay K, Gerald Arogyaraj, James Kumar, Vikram and Kiran. According to the police, the suspects hacked Harish (32), a resident of B Street, Ashokanagar, to death in front of the latter’s house at around 2 am.

Harish scolded them for smoking in front of his house and told them to leave. The gang returned a while later and attacked Harish with lethal weapons.  Harish’s parents shifted him to Mallya Hospital where he succumbed to wounds hours later.

Engg student ends life: An engineering student committed suicide by jumping in front of a running train near Chikkabanavara railway station on Sunday night.

The deceased S Dindo (18), a native of Meghalaya, is a second year student of RR College of Engineering and Technology. He jumped in front of the running train at Om Signal. Reason for Dindo’s decision is not known. There was no death note, police said.
