If you are one of those for whom ambience matters as much as the food, then we suggest you head to ‘Mugged’ in Marathahalli.

With a lively and colourful interior decor, the cafe is a great place to hang out with friends or to spend some alone time on a rainy afternoon. Of course, it helps that they serve some lip smacking delicacies too.

The place offers continental cuisine with a slightly Indian touch. This was a conscious decision, says Swetha Nair, the owner of the cafe. “Not everyone will like authentic Continental food. We mixed in some Chinese and Indian flavours so that it appeals to everyone.”

And appeal it certainly does. Even though the place is a bit difficult to locate, it sees a regular influx of a mixed crowd, ranging from bachelors and professionals to families.

Let’s get to the food now. Start the meal with soups or salads or choose from their range of vegetarian and non-vegetarian starters. The ‘Indo-Italian spheres’, which are deep fried risotto and ‘toor dal’ dumplings served with a tandoori dip, are definitely worth a try for the unique taste. The ‘Masala cones’ are a bit spicy so watch out. The ‘Cheesy fingers’ and ‘Jalapeno cheese bites’ are other recommended options for ‘tree-huggers’, as the menu addresses vegetarians. For the meat-lovers, there are a variety of tantalising options like ‘Nutty chicken sikka’, ‘Dabang chicken wings’ and more. Don’t be afraid to explore here because every dish is a safe bet.

Next in line are the sandwiches. The ‘Chatpatta paneer’ sandwich will not fail to delight even the most hardened of foodies. Moving on to the burgers and pastas, which are the most preferred eats in the place. ‘The Bund of Shanghai’ burger is a spicy veggie patty glazed with kimchi and coronado chilli sauce. The patty is crisp and the fries served along with it deserve a special mention too.

The ‘Dragon breath chicken’ is an all-time favourite here as is the ‘Simply lamb’ burger, served with green salad soaked in vinegar along with fries and dip.

In pastas, ‘Yellow tomatina’ will leave you delighted with the unique taste of yellow lentils and tomato sauce. The ‘Nutty Green’ is a rich and creamy green sauce pasta cooked to perfection. The ‘Curried twist’ is a creamy Thai curried sauce-based pasta and another great option for the experimental ones. ‘Stuffed pollo’ is stuffed chicken in Mexican salsa and is served in the form of steak - tangy and filling. All dishes deserve a special shoutout for the beautiful presentation.

Round off your meal with their selection of beverages or desserts. The ‘Kiwi slush’ and ‘Strawberry slush’ are refreshingly delicious options while the ‘Strawberry smoothie’ is another foolproof option. Or stick to the basics and opt for a Brownie or chocolate cake with vanilla. If you need help to select from the dishes or just get up from your chair after the heavy meal, ask the staff. They are super friendly and courteous.

‘Mugged’ is located on the second Floor, opposite Shankara Eye Hospital, Gulmohar Enclave Road, Kundalahalli Signal, Marathahalli.
