Siddramani accused of cheating farmer

Ramesh Neelkanthappa, a farmer, and resident of Nayitegur village, in Bailhongal taluk, has accused Bharatiya Janata Party Raita Morcha President Basangouda Siddramani, of cheating him without paying money after purchasing his land through fraudulent means.

The farmer said he had sold 8 acre 35 gunta inherited property bearing Sy No 501 in Naganur village, in Nesargi Hobali, in Bailhongal taluk, in 2015.

He alleged that Siddramani, BJP leader informing him that former chief minister Jagadish Shettar was purchasing the land but had later registered the land in his name.

He paid only Rs 11.40 lakh but failed to provide the difference amount of Rs 20 lakh and cheated him.

Ramesh also accused Siddaramani of registering 13 acre 8 guntas land in his wife’s name through fraudulent means. Siddaramani’s wife Shaila Siddaramani is serving as Bailhongal taluk Panchayat president.

The farmer said he had filed several complaints before jurisdictional police, home ministry and revenue department and had also given memorandums to governor, opposition leader in the Legislative Assembly but his concerns have gone unheard.

Bharatiya Krishika Samaja (Samyukta) Siddagouda Modagi has urged the government to immediately investigate the case and take appropriate measures to provide justice to the farmer.

Meanwhile, Siddaramani, a staunch follower of former chief minister Shettar, claimed he had purchased the land through legal means denying the allegations of the farmer.
