Ron taluk receives rain

Last Updated 06 October 2017, 18:58 IST

Entire Ron taluk in Gadag district received good rain on Friday as a result of which, most of the streams, tanks and rivers are flowing full. However, hundreds of acres of agriculture land was inundated.

As the Bennihalla flowing near Yavgal village in Ron taluk and Malaprabha river flowing near Holealur village have reached the brim, the movement of traffic has been obstructed.

As the road joining Holealur and Badami taluk has submerged under the overflowing Malaprabha, people are forced to travel by train. Fields on the river banks are inundated causing loss to maize, sunflower, onion, sugarcane, jowar and bajra crops.

“As Bennihalla is flowing above danger-level, the people in the area have been cautioned not to venture near the stream”, said Ron Tahsildar Shivalingaprabhu Wali.
