18 arrested, 150 cases solved

The west division police arrested 18 people involved in house break-in thefts (HBT), picking pockets and mobile phone thefts and solved more than 150 cases registered in various police stations in the city.

Basaveshwaranagar police arrested two chain snatchers and solved 26 cases. The suspects have been identified as Harish (30) and Mahendra Rao (29), both residents of Subramanyanagar, and recovered 1.252 kg gold chains worth Rs 34.5 lakh.

In another case, Basaveshwaranagar police arrested one person for house break-in and recovered 452 grams gold jewellery worth Rs 13.59 lakh. The suspects, identified as Sathish, is a resident of Laggere and police solved 12 house break-in cases with his arrest.

The Upparpet police arrested seven pickpockets operating in crowded places like City Market, Gandhi Bazaar and other areas. The police recovered 57 mobile phones worth Rs 6.50 lakh. In another case, the Upparpet police arrested six more persons who were stealing gold jewellery from passengers at the Majestic bus station. The police recovered 1.38 kg gold jewellery worth Rs 42.10 lakh from them and solved 27 cases.
