Awareness campaign planned for World Heart Day

On the occasion of World Heart Day on October 8, the Cardiology Society of India (CSI), Mysuru chapter, is hosting various events to create awareness about healthy habits to maintain good health.

Addressing reporters at a press conference here, CSI secretary Dr B Dinesh said that this year, the day is being celebrated with the theme, ‘Share the Power’ activities such as walkathon ‘Walk for a healthy heart’ and street play ‘Haavuyeni’ among others.

The doctor said that participants will display placards showcasing the messages on preventing and treating heart-related ailments and also highlight tips for a healthy heart.

City Police Commissioner Dr A Subramanyeshwar Rao will flag off the walkathon at 4 pm in front of Kote Anjaneya Swamy temple.

Following the walk, an educative programme for people has been scheduled at J K Grounds. Ganapathy Sachchidananda Swami of Avadhoota Datta Peetham and journalist Rajshekara Koti will attend the event.

Institutes such as JSS Hospital, Jayadeva Institute of Cardiovascular Sciences, Apollo BGS Hospital, Cauvery Heart and Multi-Speciality Hospital, K R Hospital, Narayana Multi-Speciality Hospital, Columbia Asia Hospital and Suyog Hospital will be part of the awareness programme.

CSI president Dr J Rajagopal and treasurer Dr M Manjappa were present at the press meet.
