JOIN USHASC, BEML in reckoning
HASC, who have nine points, will take on State Bank of Travancore (6 points) on Wednesday while BEML (8) face table-toppers Malabar United (11) on Thursday. A simple win will do the job for both the teams but it won’t be easy.
A victory for HASC will take them to next stage with 12 points while BEML, if they manage to win, will move to 11 points, the same as Malabar. But the Bangalore team is ahead on goal difference -- plus-four to Malabar’s plus-three.
Malabar need only a draw to seal their qualifying spot. HASC can afford to draw their encounter with SBT but then they will have to pray for a BEML defeat or a draw.
A seven-goal defeat to SBT could derail HASC’s chances but considering the poor form of the Thiruvanathapuram outfit, that looks a distant possibility.
Other teams in the competition, Golden Threads, Chandni FC and Titanium Travancore, are already out of the reckoning.
