<p>The two-day commerce fest, Utkarsh-12, organised by the commerce students of the BMS College for Women at the BMS College of Engineering drew a good response. <br /><br /></p>.<p>It had more than 16 colleges from the City like Christ University and PES <br />Degree College, participate with great enthusiasm. <br /><br /> The events in the fest included ‘Best Entrepreneur’, ‘Mock Court’, ‘Mad Ads’, ‘Logo Designing’, ‘Product Designing’ and business quiz. <br /><br />Sharing her experience of organising the fest, Salakha, a final-year student of the college said, “We organise the event every year and it gives us a lot of exposure. We are able to put our theoretical knowledge to practical use.<br /><br /> Events like ‘Mock Courts’ are helpful because we study business law and it helps in understanding the subject better.” <br /><br />“We are happy with the response that we have received for the fest. It has been an <br />enjoyable experience and all the events that we have organised will certainly help us in the future,” added Salakha.<br /><br />Padmaja S K, head of commerce department, said that she was glad her students successfully organised the fest and that it gave them the required exposure and helped them know the industry better. <br /><br />“It not only increases their practical knowledge about the industry but also helps them in exploring the opportunities. <br /><br />It gives them the required practical knowledge and they also get a chance to interact with students from other colleges and people from different industries,” said Padmaja.<br /><br />The preparations for the fest had begun a month in advance and the students were been busy meeting the representatives of different colleges and inviting them. <br /><br />“We had a good response last year and this year, we wanted to take it to a new <br />level. We will definitely do a better job next year,” informed Salakha. <br /><br /> Christ University won the overall trophy and Jain University were declared the runners-up. <br /><br />The students have already started planning for next year’s festival. Ankitha, a final year <br />student, says, “We want to increase the number of events next year.<br /><br /> And we will make sure that it does not clash with other college festivals so as to ensure <br />better participation.” <br /></p>
