The two-day commerce fest, Utkarsh-12, organised by the commerce students of the BMS College for Women at the BMS College of Engineering drew a good response.

It had more than 16 colleges from the City like Christ University and PES
Degree College, participate with great enthusiasm.

The events in the fest included ‘Best Entrepreneur’, ‘Mock Court’, ‘Mad Ads’, ‘Logo Designing’, ‘Product Designing’ and business quiz.

Sharing her experience of organising the fest, Salakha, a final-year student of the college said, “We organise the event every year and it gives us a lot of exposure. We are able to put our theoretical knowledge to practical use.

Events like ‘Mock Courts’ are helpful because we study business law and it helps in understanding the subject better.”

“We are happy with the response that we have received for the fest. It has been an
enjoyable experience and all the events that we have organised will certainly help us in the future,” added Salakha.

Padmaja S K, head of commerce department, said that she was glad her students successfully organised the fest and that it gave them the required exposure and helped them know the industry better.

“It not only increases their practical knowledge about the industry but also helps them in exploring the opportunities.

It gives them the required practical knowledge and they also get a chance to interact with students from other colleges and people from different industries,” said Padmaja.

The preparations for the fest had begun a month in advance and the students were been busy meeting the representatives of different colleges and inviting them.

“We had a good response last year and this year, we wanted to take it to a new
level. We will definitely do a better job next year,” informed Salakha.

Christ University won the overall trophy and Jain University were declared the runners-up.

The students have already started planning for next year’s festival. Ankitha, a final year
student, says, “We want to increase the number of events next year.

And we will make sure that it does not clash with other college festivals so as to ensure
better participation.”
